URGENT DENTAL CONCERNS

Common situations we evaluate.

You do not need to identify the right treatment before calling. Describe your symptoms and our team will help you get started.

Severe toothache

Persistent, throbbing or worsening pain may signal decay, a crack or inflammation inside the tooth. Call so we can help identify the cause.

Broken or cracked tooth

Save any pieces you can find, avoid chewing on that side and call promptly. Even a small fracture can expose deeper tooth structure.

Lost filling or crown

Keep the crown if you have it and do not use household glue. We can evaluate the tooth and determine whether the restoration can be replaced.

Swelling or possible infection

Dental swelling should not be ignored. Call promptly—especially if it is spreading, accompanied by fever or changing how you swallow or breathe.

Knocked-out or displaced tooth

Time matters. Handle a permanent tooth by the crown, not the root, keep it moist and call immediately for guidance.

Dental injury or bleeding

Apply gentle pressure with clean gauze. If bleeding is heavy, does not slow, or the injury involves the face or jaw, seek urgent medical care.

GET IMMEDIATE MEDICAL HELP

Some symptoms go beyond a dental emergency.

Call 911 or go to an emergency room for trouble breathing or swallowing, rapidly spreading facial or neck swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, loss of consciousness, or a serious facial or jaw injury.

Do not wait for a return call from the dental office for these symptoms.

WHILE YOU CONTACT US

Simple, safe first steps.

  • 01
    Protect the area

Can you see me the same day?+

Call as early as possible. Same-day availability varies, but our team will ask about your symptoms, explain the most appropriate next step and offer the earliest suitable visit.

What should I do if a permanent tooth is knocked out?+

Hold it by the crown, gently rinse it only if dirty and do not scrub the root. If it cannot be placed back in position comfortably, keep it moist in milk and call immediately. Do not reinsert a baby tooth.

When should I go to the emergency room?+

Call 911 or seek emergency medical care for trouble breathing or swallowing, rapidly spreading facial or neck swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, loss of consciousness or a serious facial or jaw injury.

What if I am not already a patient?+

New patients are welcome to call. Tell us what happened, when the symptoms began and whether there is swelling, fever, bleeding or trauma so we can guide you appropriately.

Will insurance cover an emergency dental visit?+

Coverage varies by plan and treatment. We accept most PPO plans and some HMO plans, and our team can help verify benefits before treatment when time allows.
