Your Dental Insurance May Pay for a Portion of Your Bridge

What is a Bridge and How Can it Help?

A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) restoration that is an excellent way to replace missing teeth.

There are several types of bridges. The “traditional bridge” is the most popular type and consists crowns that go over two anchoring (abutment) teeth which are attached to one or more pontics (artificial teeth), filling the gap created by one or more missing teeth. Each case is unique and the type of bridge that will best suit your needs will be discussed after Dr. Safaei has evaluated your specific case.

A bridge is a convenient and efficient technique to solve many dental issues. Dr. Safaei has used bridges to correct cosmetic issues, dental abnormalities, staining, crowding, spacing, and many more issues. Sometimes more than one issue can be solved with 1 bridge! Imagine completely resolving long-standing issues that have bothered you with one procedure! It can be done. The first step is to have Dr. Safaei look at your specific situation and come up with an individual treatment to address your specific needs.

Reasons for a fixed bridge:

  • Fill in missing teeth
  • Maintain facial shape
  • Prevent teeth from drifting/moving
  • Restore chewing and speaking ability
  • Restore your smile
  • Upgrade from a removable partial denture
  • Correct spacing
  • Correct crowding
  • Correct staining
  • Correct tooth shape
  • Correct Sensitivity
  • Many More!

What does getting a fixed bridge involve?

Getting a dental bridge requires two separate visits with Dr. Safaei. While the teeth are numb, the two anchoring teeth are prepared by removing a portion of enamel to allow for a crown. Next, a highly accurate impression (mold) is made which will be sent to our lab where the final (permanent) bridge will be fabricated. A temporary bridge will be made and worn while your custom final bridge is being fabricated at the lab.

At the second visit, your temporary bridge is removed, your permanent bridge will be carefully checked, adjusted to achieve a proper fit. If the bridge passes all of Dr. Safaei’s inspections, the new bridge will be permanently cemented.

You will receive care instructions at the conclusion of the procedure. Proper brushing, flossing and will aid in the life of your new permanent bridge.
