About Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea is a potentially deadly disorder in which breathing can stop and start at random interval during sleep. The duration in which your body stops breathing is unpredictable and can be troublesome for sleepers and in severe cases can cause death. One of the signals that you may have sleep apnea is if you snore loudly. This means that when you are breathing, the air is not sufficiently being shuttled between outside and inside your lungs. This interference in often caused by the airway closing as the palate, lower jaw, and tongue slide back into your throat. This condition is the most common causes of sleep apnea and is called “Obstructive” Sleep Apnea.

Many patients have been recommended to wear a CPAP machine to help them breathe at night. However CPAP machines are extremely cumbersome, difficult to manage and most patient end up not using the machine at all.
