Immediate Postoperative Care

It is likely that your tooth and jaw will be sore for several days following treatment. This is normal and expected after treatment. Avoid chewing on the tooth to prevent added soreness or the risk of cracking the tooth. Chewing on the opposite side away from the treated tooth should be done until the tooth has been restored with a final, permanent restoration. Post-treatment discomfort should be minimal. To help minimize discomfort you can start an analgesic regimen before the anesthetic wears off. Typical over the counter meds you take regularly should be sufficient.

3 Tablets of Ibuprofen 200mg 3-4 times a day as needed for
discomfort. Do not exceed 16 tablets in 24 hours.
OR
2 Tablets of regular strength Tylenol 325mg 3 times a day as
needed for discomfort. Do not exceed 10 tablets in 24 hours

If you haven’t already done so, it is IMPORTANT that you complete the final restorative procedure to help seal and protect the tooth from bacteria, infection, and fracture.
